AUSTIN, Texas-Schlumberger Ltd.’s smart-card business announced it scored an agreement with AT&T Wireless Services Inc. to supply the company with subscriber identify module smart cards for AT&T’s new GSM network expansion.
AT&T plans to upgrade its TDMA network with a GPRS/GSM overlay and will use the cards to allow its customers to call seamlessly across the network.
“We are pleased to help support AT&T Wireless’ efforts to bring advanced digital technology to consumers across the country,” said Dave Karpenske, vice president for field operations in Schlumberger’s Network and e-Transactions Solutions segment.
