HELSINKI, Finland-In a move the companies hope will lead to wide usage of mobile services, Hewlett-Packard Co. and Nokia Corp. announced an agreement to develop solutions built on an Internet-based platform.
For their first application, the companies plan to enable a Nokia phone user to direct an HP printer to print a Web document.
“Mobile printing is just the beginning,” said Carly Fiorina, HP’s chairman, president and chief executive officer. “Soon, Web servers will be embedded in many different devices. By collaborating to develop solutions based on industry standards, HP and Nokia are taking an important step toward expanding the world of mobile e-services to include all sorts of new applications and devices.”
