MONTREUX, Switzerland-The GSM Association held its first roundtable of chief executive officer’s and industry leaders from within its operator and supplier membership, with the specific intention of discussing the future direction of the Association and accelerating its activities relating to third generation.
“There was complete consensus around the table, for example, with our view that the association could take a more active role globally in issues of regulation-a view that was fueled and given weight by the success that our GSM Europe group has already had in regulatory matters,” explained Jim Healy, chairman of the GSM Association. “There was also a clear consensus that we should look at representation of operators in the wider wireless sense-beyond GSM.”
