Baltic states prepare for 3G license process

BUCHAREST, Romania-The plenipotentiaries of the prime ministers of three Baltic states met and agreed to summarize ideas and adopt a resolution on the necessity of an auction of a third-generation (3G) license for the region within a month.

On the basis of the agreement among the prime ministers of the three Baltic states, Republic of Latvia Prime Minister Andris Berzins proposed to hold a meeting to elaborate on the basic approaches to the possible auction of one 3G license in the Baltic states.

The working group on the Latvian side is represented by Dzintars Zarins, managing director of the Latvian Computer Technologies Association. Lithuania is represented by Martynas Bielinas, head of the Division of Information Infrastructure Planning of the Ministry of Public Administration Reforms and Local Authorities, and Estonia is represented by Marju Laur, deputy head of the Department of Post and Telecommunications of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
