TORONTO-Stratos Global Corp. completed its Mount Kilimanjaro educational expedition using its turnkey remote communications network. Stratos provided the expedition team with an Inmarsat-M4 terminal, allowing the team to send and receive voice, high-speed data, video conferencing and Web streaming communication services throughout the journey.
While the team climbed to the 19,000-foot peak of Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro, digital media was transmitted via Stratos’ satellite system daily to the students of Devon Middle School in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The four Canadian climbers, who were representing the school, were tracked along their journey by the students, including their precise location and altitude during the expedition.
