ALEXANDRIA, Minn.-Rural Cellular Corp. posted record consolidated revenues of $99.8 million and 23,345 net cellular customer additions for the second quarter, ended June 30.
Reported company revenues increased 131 percent compared with second-quarter 1999 revenues of $43.1 million.
Net loss applicable to common shares increased from $2.6 million last year, or 29 cents per share, to a loss of $26.4 million, or $2.24 per share, this year.
RCC attributed its record net customer additions to marketing initiatives offering higher minute digital plans and larger local footprints. When combined with the approximately 229,800 customers acquired from the company’s purchase of Triton in April, RCC has 493,000 cellular customers.
“The second quarter of 2000 was another solid quarter reflecting the successful integration and sound performance of our newly acquired Northwest and South regions combined with excellent operating results from our Midwest and Northeast regions,” said Richard Ekstrand, president and chief executive officer of the Alexandria, Minn.-based company.
