The regarding page 21 of RCR, June 26th issue. Is this an ad for condoms or pagers?
How then, in this year of 2000 AD, can an ad campaign like that one find its way into the trade press?
The Zinka pager is represented by a bra-clad woman in the throes of some sort of intimate experience. This tells us what? Of course the photo representing business-like applications of the product is of a man … but OK … men are in business too. The other woman’s role in the first panel photo is inconclusive although she’s certainly not as serious as the businessman … but, OK … women can smile and have a good time in or out of the business world.
Zinka, however, is nothing but an affront to the dignity and status women have achieved in telecommunications.
They have taken down the confederate flag from the statehouse in South Carolina. How about your publication helping take down the banner of sexism?
Until then, or until I see the ad with a jock-strapped man in a similar state of ecstasy, I shall boycott the product and encourage others to do as well.
