JP Systems expands into ASP space

JP Systems Inc. announced it will transfer its experience in connectivity solutions for wireless devices to expand into a wireless application service provider model.

As a mobile ASP, JP Systems said it can offer complete wireless data solutions for carriers, enterprise customers and wirelessly enabled applications for business-to-business ASPs. The company said it will develop and host applications, as well as provide the connectivity features needed in delivering them from the back-end system to the wireless device, by leveraging its InfoBeam technology, a client/server software package that gives handheld devices access to corporate networks and the Internet.

“There’s a lot of companies popping up offering services to different segments,” said Mike Iapalucci, vice president of product management with JP Systems. “We’ve been in this space for four years offering carrier-grade solutions … No one is doing end-to-end solutions.”

JP Systems’ strength will lie in its extensive expertise, said the company. The company has a wireless background, expertise in handheld devices and back-end system integration and established relationships with carriers, content providers, device manufacturers and enterprise companies. It is using the InfoBeam technology to create a hosted portal called InfoBeam.net, which carriers can re-brand and offer value-added information services to their customers. InfoBeam.net also offers free on-the-go information services through the portal to any user with wireless data access, said the company.

JP Systems is not tied to one technology. The company’s solutions are device and network independent, meaning it can support handhelds such as Palm Computing and Windows CE as well as all major wireless transport network protocols.

“We’ll be there today, and we’ll evolve with the networks of tomorrow,” said Mike Iapalucci. “We’re a nonreligious platform. It’s a good place to be in vs. those tied to certain technologies.”

In addition to hosting wireless data applications for carriers, Dallas-based JP Systems plans to aggressively target enterprise vertical markets where the company will add wireless capability to existing applications in the financial services, health care, hospitality and other industry sectors. JP Systems already has made inroads in the financial sector by implementing a wireless messaging system used by the New York Stock Exchange.
