REDMOND, Wash.-Bucking the recent trend, InfoSpace.com Inc. announced it will remove the dot-com from its name in an effort to position itself as a provider of e-commerce infrastructure to both the online and offline, wireline and wireless worlds.
“When the company was founded in 1996, our vision was to deliver commerce and information infrastructure on the Internet-anytime, anywhere and on any device,” said Naveen Jain, the company’s chairman and chief executive officer. “We have since significantly grown our business to provide comprehensive infrastructure services to both the online and offline world. Dropping the dot com from our name will more accurately reflect our true business model of making every space and InfoSpace.”
