LOUISVILLE, Colo.-AirCell Inc. signed a contract with Western Wireless Corp. to provide air-ground advanced communications to general aviation customers in the Western and mountain states.
AirCell said the contract expands its coverage to more than 95 percent of the major flight routes in the United States and increases the number of providers commercially offering AirCell’s technology to 20.
“The relationship allows us to expand our business model beyond the traditional terrestrial network,” said Mikal Thomsen, president and chief operating officer at Western Wireless. “It opens up new avenues for generating revenue, provides a public benefit for general aviation and allows our company, as well as others, to benefit from advanced technology for airborne cellular communications.”
