TOKYO-DDI Corp. announced it acquired the stakes held by Nissan Motor Co. in three Tu-Ka cellular phone firms, completing a deal that was announced in August, according to The Nihon Keizai Shimbun.
Japan Telecom Co. and a member of the Vodafone AirTouch plc group also bought most of Nissan’s stakes in six Digital Tu-Ka phone companies.
With this acquisition, the newspaper said DDI now has a 53.2-percent stake in Tu-Ka Cellular Tokyo Inc., up from 26.5 percent. The company also raised its stake in Tu-Ka Cellular Tokai Co. from 26.8 percent to 53.7 percent, and now holds Nissan’s entire 34.6- percent stake in Tu-Ka Phone Kansai Inc.
