NEW YORK-In a recent survey conducted in 10 European countries, Infratest Burke InCom, a London-based market research company, found that most people would pay up to $16 a month for unified messaging services.
Infratest performed the survey on behalf of Comverse Network Systems, Wakefield, Mass., a division of Comverse Technology Inc., headquartered in Woodbury, N.Y. Comverse Technology supplies enhanced services platforms to wireless and wireline telecommunications carriers.
Infratest interviewed people in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
The typical response was that consumers would pay up to $16 each month for a basic unified messaging package that includes e-mail, voice mail and fax through a personal computer, short message notification of all e-mail and forward fax to e-mail on a personal computer. About 17 percent of survey respondents said they would pay up to $53 per month for the basic package.
The Comverse announcement about the survey did not say how many people Infratest interviewed for this survey.
