HELSINKI, Finland-Nokia and the Research Institute of Telecommunications Transmission signed a cooperation agreement to further the development of third-generation mobile communications in China.
Under terms of the agreement, RITT and Nokia will set up and operate in Beijing an experimental field trial based on Nokia’s wideband-Code Division Multiple Access system, the companies said.
The system will be used to evaluate the technology in a real operation environment, as well as to demonstrate and evaluate new value-added services and applications.
Nokia said system testing will begin later this year.
