BulletIN.net Ltd., a TWS Inc. subsidiary, formed a strategic partnership with Project Telecom, a U.K. wireless service provider, that will allow users to transform their phones into handheld mobile offices, according to BulletIN.net. Project Telecom will market the service to its high-end corporate users.

SPAIN

Spain’s Telefonica now is offering its Movistar mobile phone service in Puerto Rico. Movistar’s personal communications services service uses Code Division Multiple Access technology. Movistar also includes roaming service in the United States and Internet capabilities. Lucent technologies is building the Movistar network and should have it completed by the end of the year, said Telefonica.

JAPAN

Telelogic AB received a substantial order from NEC in Japan for product licenses and maintenance agreements for use in the development of third-generation mobile telephony. The order is valued at $1.1 million, said Telelogic. “A number of negotiations are now in their final stages, and we expect to be able to announced additional sales with NEC within the next few weeks,” said Peter Wargeus, president of Telelogic’s Japanese office.

Argentina

Corsair Communications Inc. said it signed a distribution agreement with Meller Comunicaciones S.A. and its subsidiary, Brasmell, to resell, market and support Corsair’s PhonePrint fraud prevention system in Argentina and Brazil. PhonePrint identifies individual cellular phones by their RF fingerprint, allowing the system to detect cloned phones and prevent fraud. “Corsair’s PhonePrint is a proven product for the AMPS environment. We believe a timely introduction of PhonePrint will help ensure that carriers in Brazil and Argentina can prevent cloning fraud from becoming the problem it was in the United States,” said Victor Berensztein, director and chief executive officer of Brasmell.
