Anritsu Co. introduced the S251B SiteMaster handheld test and measurement device, which performs antenna-to-antenna isolation, low-noise amplifier/tower-mounted amplifier testing and accurately solves transmission, cable and antenna problems, said the company.
Operating in the 625 MHz to 2.5 GHz frequency, the two-port, broadband S251B SiteMaster performs measurements in the presence of radio-frequency interference and can detect illegally transmitted signals.
At 4 pounds, it is one of the lightest devices available, and is ideal for installation and maintenance crews which must conduct field tests, according to Mike V. Tolaio, market segment manager, Microwave Measurements Division, Anritsu.
“This spectrum analyzer is unlike traditional spectrum analyzers in that it performs spectrum analysis anytime, anywhere. You are no longer tethered to an electrical outlet. Field engineers, technicians, anyone that needs to conduct spectrum analysis or spectrum monitoring can now do so in a mobile-type environment,” Tolaio said. “It is battery operated, but you don’t need a 10-pound battery pack.”
With an expanded trace math feature-which provides on-site diagnosis of cable and antenna characteristics before and after installation-as well as an extended memory, the device allows up to 200 measurement traces to be stored so technicians can deploy multiple sites without having to download, said Anritsu.
Historical trace analysis also can be performed at a personal communications system/cellular site using the device’s upload and trace overlay features. The trace upload feature allows archived traces stored on a PC to be uploaded via RS-232 for comparisons of real-time, previously stored trace data.
The S251B SiteMaster is priced at $9,800. (800) 267-4878.
