Crown Castle shows increase of 76 percent in 3Q

HOUSTON-Crown Castle International Corp. said its revenues for the third quarter ended Sept. 30 increased 76 percent to $174.6 million compared with $98.9 million reported for the same time last year.

The company experienced a net loss of $53 million, or 36 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $27 million, or 23 cents per share, recorded for third-quarter 1999.

Crown Castle said it added 1,427 new tenants and 1,078 tenants from acquisitions, and built 330 new towers and acquired 714 towers during the quarter.

During the fourth quarter the company expects its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization to be between $67 million and $72 million. Approximately 225 to 275 new towers also are expected to be added to the company’s properties.
