TOKYO-NEC Corp. and SnapTrack Inc. signed an agreement calling for NEC to use SnapTrack’s wireless location technology to develop a location information system that will be marketed to wireless carriers in Japan as a platform for value-added services, said the companies.
NEC plans to develop a prototype location system by late August, with commercial shipments beginning by the end of the year.
