SEATTLE-XyPoint Corp. and Wireless Services Corp. said they have formed a technology alliance to develop a secure technology platform called WebWireless, which will enable consumers to conduct transactions through Internet-based businesses.
WebWireless will enable the consumer to monitor, control and respond to Web content, events and transactions, such as bidding in online auctions or buying and selling stocks, said the companies. The services will be available by the fourth quarter.
“WebWireless provides its customers with the unprecedented ability to conduct e-business transactions in real time using their digital wireless phones,” said Steve Wood, president and chief executive officer of Wireless Services Corp.
WebWireless sends a text message to the customer’s phone, alerting them to an important event and providing brief instructions. By pressing a button on their digital phone, the customer is presented with a range of voice options and is able to execute an order or transaction or receive more information.
