BASKING RIDGE, N.J.-AT&T Corp. introduced a consumer-oriented version of its Digital One Rate plan, a plan that eliminates roaming and long-distance fees and is targeted at the business user.
AT&T said this DOR version, incorporated in the AT&T Personal Network offering, is best suited for consumers who travel within their wireless home calling area. AT&T Wireless Services Inc. last week expanded the wireless home calling area in many parts of the country. For example, customers in the New York metropolitan area can use their handsets without incurring roaming charges from Maine to Richmond, Va. Customers using the service outside their home wireless calling area are charged 69 cents per minute, with no additional domestic long-distance charges.
Customers must pay a $30 monthly fee for the AT&T Personal Network offering, which includes wireless service and 10-cent-per-minute pricing on AT&T residential, domestic long-distance, calling-card and personal 800-call services. Customers receive one bill for these services and have one number to call for customer care.
Consumers can choose one of three new wireless calling plans with wireless minutes included for a $30 monthly fee. The three plans are: $40 per month for 200 minutes, $50 per month for 400 minutes and $70 per month for 600 minutes.
