Electronic Data Systems said it signed a five-year systems management agreement with Motorola Inc., under which EDS will manage the technology infrastructure for Motorola’s Systems Solutions Group and Satellite Communications Group. EDS said it will provide Motorola a full spectrum of Information Technology customer support services, including desktop systems management, help desk, server systems administration and network management. EDS also will provide planning, architecture and service consulting for Motorola’s technology infrastructure.

Advanced Radio Telecom Corp. announced it completed two definitive financing agreements with Lucent Technologies Inc., with a combined value of $225 million. The first agreement, initially disclosed in July, is for a $25-million credit facility. The second agreement creates a $200 million purchase money facility. ART must repay the $25 million credit facility when it raises in excess of $50 million of capital, at which time the $200 million purchase money facility will be made available to ART for borrowing equal to 200 percent of the aggregate capital raised, the company said.

WirelessNorth, a personal communications services carrier in Plymouth, Minn., said it has signed a roaming agreement with LifeCom, based in St. Cloud, Minn., which will allow WirelessNorth to provide continued coverage for customers outside WirelessNorth home service areas. LifeCom will allow WirelessNorth’s Code Division Multiple Access customers to roam in St. Cloud as well as the connecting highways, said WirelessNorth. LifeCom’s coverage area consists of Stearns, Benton and Sherburne counties.

Charterhouse Group International Inc., a private equity investing firm, invested an undisclosed amount in AAT Communications Corp., which owns and operates communications towers and provides site-management services to the wireless industry. AAT, based in Edison, N.J., leases space on its network of more than 1,900 tower and rooftop sites. AAT plans to increase significantly the number of towers it owns through acquisitions and by partnering with wireless carriers to help them expand their tower networks, said Charterhouse.
