SILVERLAKE INKS RESALE DEAL FOR ARCH, OFFERS WEB PRODUCT

ORLANDO, Fla.-Silverlake Communications Inc., a wireless messaging software provider, announced it has entered a reseller agreement with Arch Communications Group Inc.

Under terms of the agreement, Silverlake will be Arch’s primary alphanumeric software provider and will market the Airsource wireless messaging software suite branded under the Arch name. Arch will distribute the software throughout its national direct and indirect channels. Products include both the Lite and Pro versions of Airsource, which allow users of various Windows versions to send text messages from Arch’s paging gateways.

In addition, Silverlake introduced a new product called Airsource Web, extending this messaging capability to the Internet. With Airsource Web, users can create shared groups, schedule messages, access a log of messages sent-all from various operating systems operating a standard Internet browser, the company said.

It also features several security levels to allow these users to access Airsource Web functions from remote locations, such as to shut down a Web site, monitor who is using the system at any given time and manage both site users and their contacts in their address book.

Airsource Web is available through a leasing program for $100 a month and requires Windows NT 4.0 or greater running Internet Information Server 4.0 or greater, or Windows 98 running Personal Web Server.

Finally, Silverlake said it will begin providing new training and support services for wireless services providers, helping them use Silverlake wireless software to increase margins, increase units in service and reduce churn.

In the last year, Silverlake said it has trained some 2,500 carrier sales reps. “What we have now is specific, effective topics and content that produce immediate results,” said Eric Stalnaker, market development manager. “The training is designed to teach carriers and their sales reps how to recognize integration opportunities in the marketplace,” Stalnaker commented.
