PRAGUE, Czech Republic-Northern Telecom Ltd. recently has won six contracts in Central and Eastern Europe, and has established a strong market presence there, the company announced at the sixth annual GSM in Central and Eastern Europe conference.
The new deals included five contracts for 900 MHz Global System for Mobile communications networks-with Yeniseytelecom and Baykalwestcom in Russia, Westel in Hungary, two with MobilTel in Bulgaria and MobiFon in Romania.
“Central and Eastern Europe are the fastest-growing regions in Europe, with tremendous future potential,” said Pascal Debon, president of GSM Networks for Nortel. “The awards give Nortel a solid foothold in a fiercely competitive market, and lay the groundwork for future growth.”
