RICHARDSON, Texas-TransData announced it has created an electric meter that integrates national two-way automatic meter reading technology completely under glass using American Mobile Satellite Corp.’s Ardis data network.
The MARK-V AMR DATA-PRO platform communicates billing data, load profiles, power quality and outage-notification reports. It integrates the Motorola Inc. Series 500 Wireless Modem with a proprietary antenna design housed completely inside the meter chassis. There are no wires or external boxes requiring hook-up, the company said. Once the user simply installs the meter, the wireless modem automatically logs its address onto the Ardis network.
