BAM EQUIPS 30 MARYLAND POLICE CRUISERS WITH AIRBRIDGE

BETHESDA, Md.-The Maryland-National Capital Park Police-Montgomery County Division has equipped 30 of its police cruisers with wireless access to criminal databases and Motor Vehicle Administration records, announced Bell Atlantic Mobile.

Officers can obtain records in about 15 seconds using portable laptop computers linked to Bell Atlantic Mobile’s AirBridge wireless data network, said the carrier. The laptops also are equipped with voice-recognition capability from Maryland-based Stellar Technical Systems Inc.
