A Japanese newspaper reported that AirTouch Communications Inc., Japan Telecom Co. and Nissan Motor Co. plan to form a joint venture next month to bid for one of three third-generation licenses the Japanese Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications plans to offer next year.
AirTouch did not confirm the report, saying the company didn’t comment on rumor or speculation. AirTouch with Japan Telecom holds investments in three Japanese Digital Phone group carriers, which operate Personal Digital Cellular service.
