LONDON-London Underground Ltd. selected the CityLink Telecommunications consortium to replace and manage its communications network in a private finance initiative project valued at more than $6 million during 20 years.
“Project Connect” calls for London Underground to receive radio services delivered through a Trans-European Trunked Radio-based network to provide integrated mobile communications to trains, stations and depots.
CityLink plans to take over operating the existing network after it is analyzed and contracts are signed, said London Underground.
CityLink Telecommunications Ltd. was formed to raise capital for and to manage Connect. Its shareholders include Racal Telecommunications Ltd., Fluor Daniel International Ltd., Hyder plc, Charterhouse Bank and Motorola Inc.
