ALEXANDRIA, Va.-The Personal Communications Industry Association announced the industry leaders who will speak at the Personal Communications Showcase ’98 conference Sept. 22-25 in Orlando, Fla.
Federal Communications Commission Chairman William Kennard will deliver the keynote address at the opening SuperSession, “Connect to Leadership: Building a Wireless America and a Wireless World,” on Sept. 23. This session will focus on PCIA initiatives and the future of wireless technology. In addition, FCC Commissioners Susan Ness, Harold Furchtgott-Roth, Michael Powell and Gloria Tristani will speak about their roles in the wireless industry.
Also featured in the opening SuperSession will be PCIA Chairman William Collins, president and chief executive officer of Metrocall; George Schmitt, president of Omnipoint Communications Inc.; Matt Desch, president of wireless networks for Northern Telecom Inc.; William Wiberg, president of Advanced Mobile Phone Service and Personal Communications Services networks for Lucent Technologies Inc.; Irwin Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Qualcomm Inc.; Merle Gilmore, president of Motorola Communications Enterprises; and David Angel, president of AT&T Labs.
The SuperSession on the second day of the convention, “Connect to Competition: The Business of Success,” will feature two CEO roundtables about messaging and broadband personal communications services, cellular and satellite issues.
The messaging roundtable speakers will include Ronald Grawert, president and CEO of MobileMedia Corp.; Ed Baker, CEO of Arch Communications Group Inc.; John Beletic, president and CEO of PageMart Wireless Inc.; William deKay, president of Conxus Communications; and Metrocall’s Collins.
Speakers on the broadband PCS/cellular/satellite roundtable will include Lowell McAdam, CEO of PrimeCo; William Lounger, president and CEO of Mercury PCS; and Dan Hesse, president and CEO of AT&T Wireless Services Inc.
