In this week's telecom software review, AT&T releases a new cloud-based security system and SevOne announces its acquisition of log analytics vendor RapidEngines. Additionally, AIRCEL implemented Elitecore's policy manager, Amdocs unveiled a VoLTE policy control system and DigitalRoute announced a new telco service control solution.
AT&T launches AT&T Cloud Web Security
On April 8, AT&T unveiled its newest system, the AT&T Cloud Web Security solution. The technology allows organizations of all sizes to protect themselves in real time against a variety of threats including malware and compromised Web pages. As the program is a cloud-based system, clients need not leverage on-premises hardware for its use. Cloud Web Security, established around Blue Coat Systems' Security Policy and Enforcement Center, provides the ability to address needs related to shrinking budgets, compliance and regulatory demands by creating a secure environment for business processes. Users can also benefit from lower costs and reduce complexity, customizable Web-based controls, and innovative policy management and reporting capabilities.
"Six months ago, we told our customers that we'd deliver better end-to-end protection, making major improvements to our network-based defense, cloud security, secure mobile business, and threat management solutions," said AT&T Security Services VP Andy Daudelin. "Since then, we announced significant enhancements in each of these areas…The launch of this new on-demand cloud security solutions is an important milestone in our commitment to deliver improved security, analytics, and threat visibility to our customers."
AIRCEL leverages Elitecore NetVertex PCRF
Also on April 8, Elitecore Technologies announced that Aircel India had deployed its NetVErtex PCRF policy manager solution within its mobile service footprint. The system was implemented to provide increased flexibility, improved scalability and uptime, as well as to raise revenues. The system, built on carrier-grade 3GPP standards, can stamp out network outages by leveraging geo redundancy.
Industry first VoLTE policy control solution from Amdocs
On April 8, Amdocs launched its VoLTE Controller, a virtualized policy control and charging rule function system, the industry's first standards-based system of this kind. The technology was specifically created to enable vendors to provide high definition, high quality VoLTE services to customers. The new VoLTE solution was based on Amdocs' Policy Controller, and can be put in place with legacy PCRF components for address a range of needs like resource usage control.
DigitalRoute releases Service Control
On April 7, DigitalRoute unveiled its newest offering, Service Control. The system, built around the MediationZone program, allows telcos to drive down the cost of metered data service delivery through a transmission and execution capability specifically designed for service bundles. The new system also addresses some of the top challenges facing telecom operators today, including shifting minutes business models to bytes, engaging customers, turning demand into profits and return on investments.
"Our customers face pressures to innovate and to increase their revenues and market shares yet find that their legacy IT is a barrier to success," said DigitalRoute vice president Thomas Vasen. "Service Control helps solve these challenges through fast enablement and reduced cost of delivering metered data services."
