STOCKHOLM-Millicom International Cellular S.A. announced it will merge its combined Global System for Mobile communications 900 MHz and digital cellular system 1800 MHz license in Luxembourg and its nationwide prefix license in France with certain operations contributed by Industriforvaltning A.B. Kinnevik of Sweden.
Kinnevik’s operations include the Tele 2 Europe, 3C, Transcom International and Transcom Europe long-distance and billing operations. Millicom will own 35 percent of the merged operations while Kinnevik will hold a 65-percent stake. The combined functions will be called the Societe Europeenne de Communication division of Millicom, formed to take advantage of the deregulation process in the European telecommunications market, the company said.
