MONTREAL-Ericsson Private Radio Systems agreed to incorporate wireless data connectivity tools from M3i Systems Inc. into its trunked private radio system, said M3i.
The agreement initially calls for two M3i mobile solutions, PragmaRoad and Skyview, to be added to Ericsson’s Enhanced Digital Access Communication System.
With an installed base of 400 systems, EDACS carries voice and data on any channel and services utility, public-safety, industrial, commercial and government markets worldwide.
PragmaRoad is radio-communications middleware that enables data exchange on wireless networks between mobile computers running Windows applications and one or several stationary host computers.
Skyview is a graphics-based automated vehicle-location system that permits real-time monitoring of fleet activities and events. PragmaRoad creates the pathway along which data passes, while Skyview uses the pathway to pass information to users, explained M3i.
M3i, which stands for “management through instant interactive information,” is a joint venture principally owned by Hydro-Quebec and Midlands Electric plc of the United Kingdom.
