APPLETON, Wis.-Lindquist Machine Corp. replaced an outdated wireline telephone system with a wireless personal communications services system created by Wisconsin Wireless Communications, said Einstein PCS. The system uses Global System for Mobile communications technology.
“We saw the opportunity to create a completely wireless atmosphere, and we knew it was the right thing for our company,” said Fred Luehrs, president and chief operating officer of Lindquist.
The Green Bay, Wis.-based company manufactures low-volume machinery and employs about 150 people.
“Our phone system was very old, had a limited number of lines, and didn’t provide us with voice mail or other features and services we obviously needed. We are a very mobile company and we wanted the ability to go wireless, yet maintain a high quality in our service,” Luehrs explained.
The company also is offering its employees the option to add a second number at their own expense, so they can receive personal phone calls on their Einstein PCS phones. Calls on the additional line would have a different ring and the bill would be sent to employees’ homes.
While Lindquist’s new wireless system includes a number of standard business applications-including call forwarding, call hold, call waiting, multiple line capability, call transfer, conference calling, speed dialing, automated attendant and enhanced voice mail-it also will provide some nontraditional applications, such as the ability to store up to 200 phone numbers.
