SAN DIEGO-The Satellite Global Access division of ComStream has signed several new contracts to provide its VSATPlus II satellite networking product to companies in Latin America, the United States and Eastern Europe.
Three new contracts valued at more that $3 million were signed with Comsat Brasil Ltda., a private voice-and-data network provider for businesses operating in Brazil. Aguia Branca, a Brazilian trucking firm, also selected ComStream’s very small aperture terminal equipment to dispatch long-haul drivers throughout the country.
ComStream’s other new customers in Brazil include a large retailer that plans to use VSATPlus II for a 70-node network, and a major soft-drink distributor that plans to use the system for a satellite-based private network interconnecting its bottling facilities and sales offices, said the company.
In the United States, Dow Jones and Co., publisher of The Wall Street Journal, is upgrading its ComStream Time Division Multiple Access network. In addition, a service provider in Eastern Europe awarded ComStream a $1-million contract to supply VSATPlus II equipment it plans to use to provide voice and data satellite services for sites located across Russia, said ComStream.
