DALLAS-3COM PalmPilot users can send numeric or alphanumeric pages and personal or group e-mail messages directly, using One-Touch software by JP Systems Inc., the software provider announced.
The One-Touch application is a combination of software and cable products that integrate wireless communications with AccessLink two-way pagers from the Wireless Access Group of Glenayre Technologies Inc., via SkyTel Corp.’s SkyWriter service and MCI Communications Corp.’s interactive nationwide service, explained JP Systems. The software is used in conjunction with Novatel’s Minstrel Wireless IP Modem, a modem cradle custom designed for the PalmPilot.
The system uses Cellular Digital Packet Data technology to communicate with the JP Systems’ message server, which converts messages into the appropriate protocol and sends them to the paging company or to the specified e-mail address.
The product is shipping through JP Systems and PilotGear resellers.
