InfoPower, a subsidiary of Motorola Inc., announced it has combined forces with Solo America and Metrocall Inc. to provide the ESPN To Go wireless sports information and paging service nationwide.
The service will provide game information and score updates every five minutes from ESPN, resold by InfoPower. Sports covered include Major League baseball, NFL football, NBA basketball, NHL hockey and NCAA Division I football and basketball. The service also offers a selection of statistics, trivia and other sports features.
The ESPN To Go service costs less than $10 a month, plus the price of a Motorola pager.
“The ESPN To Go service provides a tremendous amount of information that allows a sports fan to keep up-to-date on virtually every sport through their pager, throughout the United States,” said Bill West, president and chief executive officer of Solo America. “With this service, the pager can now be a major portable source of information and entertainment, at a very affordable price.”
Metrocall, based in Alexandria, Va., will provide local, regional and nationwide paging services for the venture. Solo America, a joint venture between Metrocall and Brightpoint Inc., will provide all marketing support and services, according to the agreement.
InfoPower packages and resells branded information services to the wireless industry by filtering and formatting date for redistribution. Solo America develops affinity and branded paging programs nationwide through various marketing partners.
