WESTBOROUGH, Mass.-Arch Communications Group Inc. has chosen Lyndon Daniels as the company’s new president and chief operating officer.
Daniels replaces former President C. Edward Baker, who will remain Arch’s chairman and chief executive officer. Daniels will be the company’s first COO, a newly created position, and will take his post Jan. 5.
Most recently, Daniels was president, chief executive officer and chairman of Pacific Telesis Group’s Pacific Bell Mobile Services, where he began as chief financial officer. He was replaced as president and CEO in October. Prior to that, Daniels and Baker once worked together at Communications Industries Inc.
According to Bob Lugee, Arch’s vice president of investor relations, the addition of Daniels represents no real change in strategy, but rather a necessity created by the company’s increased scope.
“It’s a function of our growth as much as anything,” he said. Previous to creating the COO position, the company’s eight division presidents would report directly to Baker. Now, they will report to Daniels, who will handle the day-to-day operations of the company.
His experience as CFO and CEO at Pacific Bell Mobile, as well as his previous relationship with Baker, are both seen as significant assets.
“He brings broad operating and financial skills, so it makes sense,” Lugee said. “It makes sense to have someone with that ability. It adds depth to management.”
