DALLAS-MCI Communications Corp. announced the completion of its new dispatch system that uses wireless technology to send technicians to customer sites.
The new system, called Dispatch.Mgr, is a computerized wireless dispatch system that allows MCI’s field technicians to receive work orders via wireless modems in laptop computers. It also allows for immediate two-way communication between dispatchers and technicians.
The system uses Ram Mobile Data L.P.’s nationwide wireless data network and middleware from Nettech Systems Inc. The company also is testing satellite connectivity from Norcom Networks Corp. to complement the wireless network.
