ITASCA, Ill.-Shieldmate Robotics Inc. said it has been dismissed from a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Motorola Inc. against Shieldmate and Qualcomm Inc.
Motorola filed a lawsuit in federal court in March against the two companies, claiming Qualcomm’s Code Division Multiple Access-based Q phone infringed the design of Motorola’s StarTac phone, and Shieldmate infringed Motorola’s trademark by producing cellular phone housings for Qualcomm. Motorola charged Shieldmate with breaching a confidentiality agreement with Motorola in producing the plastic housings for Qualcomm.
“Motorola is one or our most valued and important customers,” said Steve Matecki, president of Shieldmate.
“We’re really happy to have this matter behind us.”
Shieldmate makes plastic injection molding parts for the wireless communications industry.
