CUPERTINO, Calif.-Tandem Computer Inc. announced it is supplying Tu-Ka Cellular of Tokyo and Tokai, Japan, with the intelligent network infrastructure for the operators’ Personal Digital Cellular networks.
Both companies began using Tandem’s first IN deployments in August to meet Japan’s Telecommunications Technology Committee’s and PDC specifications.
Tandem will provide its Himalaya K20000 IN Server service control point platform and a modified version of its Interim Standard-41 home location register, an off-switch database that allows subscribers to roam without service interruption and enables carriers to provide call forwarding, call waiting and remote feature access.
Both Tu-Ka Cellular companies introduced PDC services in Japan in 1994. Tandem is a Compaq company, which designs and delivers telecom technology solutions through its Telecom Network Solutions division.
