DALLAS-Mobile Systems International announced it received a contract to supply software and services to Indian network operator Escotel Mobile Communications Pvt. Ltd.
MSI plans to help Escotel extend its Global System for Mobile communications networks in Uttar Pradesh West, Haryana and Korala. Escotel will use MSI’s Planet software to allocate and optimize the use of available radio channels, and will also use MSI’s Maptool software.
Escotel, a joint venture company between Escorts Ltd. of India and First Pacific Co. Ltd. of Hong Kong, also will receive advice and support from MSI’s Indian office, which opened earlier this year in New Delhi.
Escotel provides cellular services in 27 cities and is in the process of adding another 10 cities to its networks. There are currently 20,000 subscribers in all three zones and Escotel expects to increase this number to 200,000 in the next three years.
