KANSAS CITY-Sprint Corp. announced it selected Motorola Inc. and Northern Telecom Inc. to supply Code Division Multiple Access personal communications services equipment and services in the markets for which the company acquired licenses in the D- and E-block PCS auction.
Motorola will provide about 60 percent of the equipment for the initial build, while Nortel will provide about 40 percent. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. Total expenditures under the contracts may exceed $750 million for the initial buildout.
The markets cover some 70 million residents in the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
