FOLSOM, Calif.-Objective Systems Integrators Inc. has released a software solution called WebOperator 1.0 that it says will allow users to monitor and control the status of networks, including wireless networks, from any web-enabled browser.
Used in conjunction with OSI’s NetExpert, WebOperator allows service network access to users of a Unix workstation or any personal computer running Windows 95 or Windows NT and displays the status information in a readable form, rather than computer language.
“WebOperator 1.0, running on low-cost platforms, provides network managers the ability to remotely administer their network over a low-bandwidth, dial-up intranet connection,” said Ross Roberts, director, product management at OSI. “This capability makes fault monitoring and identification on the network practical, even when the network manager is at a remote site.”
WebOperator’s server software component is a Java application. It has client software components as well. It operates within a Netscape 3.01 Java-enabled Internet browser of the above mentioned systems.
OSI is based in Folsom, Calif., and has offices across the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.
