HAITAI OF S. KOREA GAINS CDMA RIGHTS

SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. granted Haitai Electronics Co. Ltd. of Seoul, Korea, a royalty-bearing license to manufacture and sell Code Division Multiple Access subscriber products for personal communications services networks.

“With Korea’s successful deployment of CDMA cellular systems, Haitai will participate with others to ensure that the Korean consumers’ growing demand for CDMA subscriber products continues to be satisfied,” commented Steve Altman, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm’s Technology Transfer Division.

`We welcome Haitai’s decision to join the growing number of CDMA manufacturers in meeting the needs of a Korean market that already boasts about 2 million CDMA subscribers,” Altman continued.
