BEIJING-Northern Telecom Ltd. was awarded a contract from the Tianjin Posts and Telecommunications Administration to increase the capacity of its existing Global System for Mobile Communications network.
The expansion will increase the switching capacity of Tianjin’s GSM network to 360,000 subscribers by third quarter, said Nortel. This is the company’s fourth phase extension with Tianjin, China’s largest end-user of Nortel’s switching equipment.
