The applications for this year’s VITA Awards are in and the winners will be honored during the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association’s Wireless Safety Week, May 19-25.
Vita is the Latin word for life. The contest is divided into four categories: Highway Hero, Crimestopper, Lifesaver and Good Samaritan.
Candidates for these awards were submitted by their carriers last month. The event must have happened between March 1996 and March 1997. If CTIA finds one event was truly extraordinary, it could designate a Grand CTIA award.
CTIA also is participating in a nationwide public awareness campaign called Make the Right Call, encouraging citizens to know the proper number to call in case of an emergency.
