CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Glenayre Technologies Inc.’s InFLEXion voice paging system began commercial service for the first time with Paging Network Inc.’s launch of VoiceNow service in northern California and Nevada.
The narrowband personal communications services system is available in Oakland, Sacramento, San Jose, San Mateo, Modesto and Stockton, Calif., and Reno and Tahoe, Nev., said Glenayre.
PageNet has been operating in these markets quietly for a short time, said company spokesman Scott Baradell. Soon the company will begin advertising in California and Nevada.
Glenayre provided its GL3000 wireless messaging switch, GL3100 RF Director, GL-C9000 base station controller, GL-T9501 linear transmitter, GL-R9000 receiver and GL-N9000 operation and maintenance center for the system.
The VoiceNow system in Atlanta is operational and PageNet will begin selling service in the next few weeks, added Baradell. Miami, Los Angeles and Chicago are the next markets scheduled for VoiceNow launch.
PageNet is using equipment from Glenayre and Motorola Inc.
