KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa.-InterDigital Communications Corp. will provide its UltraPhone system to Bukaka Sing Tel International of Indonesia, a joint systems operator owned by Singapore Telecom and PT Telkom of Indonesia. InterDigital values the order at $1.2 million.
“There is tremendous follow-on opportunity with Bukaka Sing Tel,” said Mark Lemmo, executive vice president of InterDigital’s product operations for Time Division Multiple Access and broadband Code Division Multiple Access technology programs. “The UltraPhone product is an ideal solution for serving the rural areas in Indonesia that the (joint systems operators) must reach per government decree.”
In addition, the company said it completed shipment of an equipment order to Colechera, an organization of cattle and milk farmers in Colombia. The order was part of the Atlantico Project, which is designed to build telecommunications for farmers in Colombia’s rural areas.
“Colombia is a terrific market for wireless systems like the UltraPhone product,” said Lemmo. “This order strengthens our presence there. We hope it is the first of many from the Atlantico project.”
The company said it expects to receive more orders in conjunction with the Atlantico Project by the end of the year.
