WARREN, N.J.-Lucent Technologies Inc. will use Agile Networks’ data networking products to allow telecommunications service providers to combine voice and data services over a single public network.
Lucent will combine the voice capabilities of its DDM-2000 Sonet multiplexer with the data capabilities of Agile’s ATMizer-2000 ATM and Ethernet Switch. The consolidation will reduce network costs because data and voice run on the same network, the companies said.
Lucent said by the second quarter its DDM-2000 multiplexer will offer broadband data interface that can be connected to ATM edge switches.
