MISSISSAUGA, Ontario-Teklogix International Inc. was awarded a contract by the city of St. Petersburg, Fla., to supply mobile data communications systems to the city’s police and public works departments. Teklogix values the contract at $1.16 million.
The system includes 181 rugged TKX-3000 color notebook computers, docking stations and connectivity to a wide-area specialized mobile radio network provided by Motorola Inc. Installation is scheduled to begin in March. The system allows police to perform dispatch, officer-to-officer communications and case reporting functions. It can send, receive and retrieve data or photos instantly.
