ORANGE BEGINS ISDN SERVICES

LONDON-Orange plc of Great Britain has introduced integrated services dispatch network technology on its personal communications 1800 MHz network.

Called ISDN Access, the service allows Orange’s fax and data customers to link to computers and other services when they are out in the field.

ISDN Access is digital from end to end, and takes eight seconds for a caller to get through, said Orange. In comparison, it takes 30 seconds for an ISDN call to travel through an analog public switched telephone network modem, said the company.

Users dial a three-digit access code to link to the Orange network terminal adapter, and then dial the ISDN service.
