NORWOOD, Mass.-Analog Devices Inc. and The Technology Partnership Ltd. introduced a new pair of chipsets for Global System for Mobile communications phones.
Analog Devices said the chipsets reduce product development time, lower system costs and provide higher performance such as standby time in excess of 100 hours.
The AD20msp415 unit, an improved version of an earlier chipset, shortens development and testing time using a baseband processing unit.
Together with the AD6430 radio chipset, RF signal processing costs are minimized for GSM handsets by integrating the support components for an RF design in the two-chip solution, the company said.
“The growing popularity of GSM handsets around the world is forcing manufacturers to look for solutions they can use to bring new generations of phones to market every 12 months,” said Russ Johnsen, vice president and general manager of Analog Devices’ communications division.
The AD20msp415 will sell for less than $30 in production volumes next year. The AD6430 is priced under $10.
